greased the dogbones - no more noise, installation orientation

after one year again this terrible noise. Used Karlyn, next time I try Lemforder or Meyle.
2 dust caps broken, almost no grease inside, used old dust caps from other Karlyn which I used only 2 months last year because of that noise.

Grease used: MOLYBDENUM Grease , as I just had that on stock.

I think there has been a lot posted on the cheapo ones failing. I know we all "hope" that someday they will get it right. I know I have done my share of the evaluations ;)

Same here... I bought Hamburg Tech from FCP Groton... Boots ripped so I squirted in waterproof grease... no usual noises but occasional click on hard turns.

I got Lemforders ready to go in... bought it at Pelican... far cheaper than others.

Shogun, were did you buy the new boots for the dogbones from?

edit: acutally, do you have lower control arms balljoint boots also? Mine failed about 6-9 months ago, so they maybe damged beyond repair now, they are always clunking - just asking....

I used the rubber boots from a pair of old dogbones which I had used last year only 3 months and then threw out because they started making noise already after 3 months. Also one of these cheapos.
Next time I buy Lemforder or Meyle, although they cost much more than the cheap Karlyn and other no name brands.

Shogun, I am wondering if it is possible that worn out subframe makes these dogbones wear out faster because of too much play. They are tied in together in some way... What is your thought?

I got a pair of Lemforders to go in soon but wondering if subframe is the culprit of boot tearing as in too much play.

I replaced the beer cans last year, brand new from Meyle in HD design.

Revival of an old thread about the orientation of the dogbones.
Got the question on the German forum, which side up? Curved side or the flat side? I assume the curved section needs to be down. Have discussed that years ago with my wrenching buddies and they are of the opinion it does not matter. But why did they make such a design if it does not matter? Someone knows for sure what comes up? Does it matter?

As the mating faces are larger on the upper sides, I do it that way round like you. But it mustn't matter if the TIS doesn't mention it. Most likely they are just made like that nad its not in the actual design, (unless it is in the design to make it easy to make)!
