Does anybody know for sure if the Seiko Seki AC compressor is interchangable with the Bosch one on the M20 powered 525 1990

Before you even go buy a compressor... what is the problem with yours?

1990 525i uses the same compressor as 535i. You still have multiple V belts right? What compressor brand do you have on the car now? Bosch?

There are lots of cheap used compressors on ebay with warranty... I'd probably would go that route instead of paying $300+ for rebuilt compressor. Other choice is find a AC compressor rebuilder in your area and have him rebuild it.

I bought two compressors from this guy... contact him to see if he can supply you one.

That's one seller... I never used him before but he got good warranty and feedback.

Thanks,

I have a Seiko Seki, that was a rebuild from 2005.

Yeah, its the same on from a lot of models from that era...535 & 735 also had the same compressor.

My Seiko-Seiki failed similarly, I found a rebuild kit, but it didn't come with a shaft seal (the failed component). I bought a kit (from BMA I think) that would change the compressor to a Sanden SD508 which is far more common, but you need to have your hoses recrimped with the proper ends (included with the kit). Price was pretty high for the kit, but it included a new mounting bracket, tensioner brackets, hose ends, compressor, etc... The Sanden compressors are quite common and inexpensive if it should ever need replacement again.
