While wiring my 89 535i I found these round yellow plugs on the drivers side under the kicker panel. Anyone know what these are used for. They look like they should be connected together but were not.

Most likely for servotronic steering control unit

100% it is for the servotronic. That are the old connectors for the older control unit.
If you plug them directly together, that is the emergency function, usually the female and male go into the servotronic control module.
In emergency the power steering is then always full power, no more speed dependent, provided of course your car has servotronic installed, in those older days many wire looms were installed which were never used when such option was not ordered, but they installed the wire looms.

Thats for the Flux capacitor. Once you hook it up, the car will travel time!!!
