this I copied for info, that is a 1993 E32 740 with M60 engine, same as used in the E34:
I've had a misfire on cylinder #2 for a while now. I thought I was getting no spark, so i picked up 3 coil packs from the junk yard from 3 different cars and none of them solved the misfire. Then i bought rebuilt and flow matched injectors which i noticed a big difference with but i still had the misfire, then I changed the intake manifold gaskets which helped again but still had a misfire... I checked and fixed a few more minor things and still no luck. with all the repairs i have done lately the car runs pretty good for a 7 cylinder...
on the #2 cylinder i can unplug the coilpack and the car runs exactly the same, none of the junkyard coils seemed to work so i bought a new one. Guess what still no spark!!!
now it has to be a short because the car did fix itself a couple times but the misfire comes back and this time its here to stay. I'm not much of an electrician but I've put too much love and money into this thing to give up on her now!

Connector X6000 pinout is shown on pg 8500-16.

ok so if i pull the DME/ecu i will see the x6000 connector and can find and follow the wire that connects to pin 35...
does this sound like it could be a malfunctioning DME? or most likely a short?
also there are three wires that plug into the coil pack connector, so is there one these that is more important than the others, it seems like all the wires are somehow shared with all the coil packs so its hard to see one fail and not have all 8 cylinders fail as well..

Sorry, I was looking at the fuel injector for Cyl 2.
The Ignition Coil for Cyl 2 is T6152 on pg 1362-02. Its connector is X6152.
Pin 1 is RED to X6000 pin 49.
Pin 2 is BRN to GND.
Pin 3 is GRN to ignition switch, hot in Run and Start.
If these connections check out OK, then it is possible that the DME Engine Control Module is defective, because it never fires the Cyl 2 coil by pulsing pin 49 to GND.
Time to swap with a known-good DME module.

Picked one up at the local junkyard off of the only V8 e32 on the whole lot. I opened it up to check it out before i purchased. Payed 58 bucks which is more than i expected but i was really just glad to have it today rather than after a weeks worth of shipping.
car runs beautifully! better than when i got it 45k miles ago... probably has something to do with all the other work i have been doing chasing this problem.
