I urgently need to seal off my heater core completely.

My heater core is leaking severely, and I don't have the money or expertise to repair it. I want to close it off so it does not fog up my car with that coolant fog that just does NOT go away, leak in my interior, or stink up my car with coolant that burns my eyes. Is it possible without opening up the dash?

Disconnect the pipes going through the firewall on the engine side and connect them together using copper pipe? Complete bypass of heater system, therefore no more leaks.

Still a litre of coolant left in the core. It takes 4-6 hours to pull the console, pull the pipes can replace the o-rings. It is usually those, leaky cores are quite rare really- a result of wrong/poor coolant maintenance.
