Still have no answers as to how to remove my Alpine head unit without setting off the car alarm. Anyone know the answer? The manual says to disconnect the battery, which is a hassle.

Answered my own question. The blinking LED is NOT connected to the alarm system and the stereo head can be removed without disconnecting the battery although some repair books mention that because the harness has live wires even when the ignition is off.
