Hi guys, it's been a while! :D Followed the heart a while back and sold the e34 535i sport in order to buy an XJR... Had some really good times with that car and enjoyed every minute of it - SERIOUS performance machine but with fuel prices rising so rapidly it had to go...

So, I was left searching for a replacement that looked nice, had decent performance and was fairly economical... Hence:

:D I'm really excited as it seems to have been maintained ridiculously well - much like I do with all of my cars!

My initial impressions of the e39 are: It rides really well and is super comfortable (even on 18's), the interior is well put together and looks the part and the 2.9L diesel engine is a pleasure to drive with the auto transmission... A bit noisier than the Jag at higher speeds but that's to be expected with it being a diesel. Overall I can't recommend it enough when (or if :D) your ready to upgrade the e34. :)

i "down" graded to a 120d manual,more torque,uses half the fuel

And hey Paul I bet the one series is fantastic to drive, although auto is the only way for me now! (I've got used to being lazy!) :p

yep feels really zippy,biggest drawback is the run flats they are horrendous on our chip seal.Nice ly speccced car too,HIDs,detachable tow bar...and for me the manual !

Feels zippy cause first 2 gears are much lower than the E34. You can get used to any car and new cars (even used) are new cars to us. I would only trade my E34 for an E39 for dollar value, would sell that for a better E34... but I am bias.
