new in-dash CD player skipping

I installed a Clarion DXZ535 about 4 months ago in my '94 525i. No problems at all. It worked great for first 3 months, no skipping. I haven't played the CD player in a few weeks, maybe a month. Now, when I play a CD, it skips on almost every bump i hit on the front-end.

Any suggestions on what to do with this problem? Or what might be causing the skipping. Its annoying for it to skip a few times a minute.

chunk of fur on the lens?! try one of those cleaning discs with the whiskers on it
