Over the weekend found what I think may be a credible replacement for the dear departed Gummi Pfledge. Of course, I could be the last guy on the planet to find this stuff, so please understand . . .

Anyway, NAPA sells a substance they call "Sil-Glyde" - it's a silicone grease / seal treatment that comes in a tube. It's about twice as viscous as toothpaste, is sort of clear and says its for treating rubber seals, among other things. My cost was $6.00 after sales tax, so how far wrong can you go?

Wiped a decent amount on door seals and let sit before wiping off. So far, all's well and those seals look real happy.

Anyone else used this?

My query is - has anyone tried the NAPA brand and compared it to the spray or the Honda product? I have no idea how you'd make a comparison, I mean it's all silicone grease, right? Is there a difference - and what is it?

I think I recall seeing the Honda grease costs about $18 US - don't know about the spray, but that sounds like it's not as easy to apply where you want it and not all over the place.

Just wondering.

There was an extensive discussion about his on this forum... do a search. I think that is how I ended up buying the Honda grease. I have applied it on all my cars last year... still perfect.

IMO, spray is not as good as the old stuff. I have both. I have 1/4 of the old stuff and only use it once a year just before winter :)

Have this stuff as well. Does not soak in as well as the old stuff. However, it does work. I cannot remmeber the stuff that Corvette owners like. It is rather expensive but works well too. I have a collection of all this sort of thing. :)

The corvette stuff that i used on my corvette door seals and top seals was the same stuff as the gm dieletric grease for spark plug wires and boots. The part number was the same for both. It crosses over to the permatex dielectric grease part no 22058. Autozone has it for about 6 bucks a tube. Just like GummiPhledge a little goes a long long way. I will use it on my bmw's when i finally run out of Gummi.
