I recently had a remanufactured automatic transmission with new shift interlock, installed in my 1995 525i. Works great with the following intermittent exception.
Sometimes on first start of the day, place car in reverse (OK in first gear) lightly accelerate and engine dies. Try several more times with same result. Finally place in reverse with foot off gas and let idle move the car. Works fine?? Has not yet reappeared the rest of the day.
OR, place in reverse accelerate a bit harder and car goes into neutral.
Noted the following as well.
Often easily goes into neutral when hand is in gearshift.
Often takes a little extra pressure to put car in park,
I think there is an issue with shift lever adjustment, which my indy tech will address.
Any other thoughts? Could it be an internal trany issue?
