well, we found a manual transmission, bought it, and picked it up. i followed the advice of many other BMW enthusiasts and went with an e28 flywheel that im going to have machined down instead of getting a duel mass flywheel from some speed shop. however, we dont know exactly how much is safe to grind off. after some careful inspection, my father and i decided that the best place to shave off would be on the back of the plate and sort of scoop out the metal. after some calculations, we figured that would give us at least 6 pounds off of this thing. is this safe? could we get more off? will this thing get too hot it we shave off too much? i cant wait to begin!!!

Well, since you oughta turn the clutch side anyhow, you may as well start there.
