Hello,
The only way I can get the rear view mirror to dim in my 89 535i is to slide the sensitivity control all the way to the right. The green LED illuminates and the mirror dims. Even when a car behind has blazing lights on - nothing in any position except fully to the right. Is the little light sensor on the left of the mirror faulty? Is this a big pain to fix? It seems to me that a simple manual lever to toggle between normal and dimmed would be way easier, cheaper and more reliable.
Plus, I hate the little green light sitting right in front of my face when driving at night. I guess a bit of black paint will fix that one! Is this sort of thing a case of "Ve haf ze technology, so ve vill usink it" ?
Do people actually buy one car over another because it has an auto dimming mirror :-)
