For those of you who are just starting out, just remember that, generally, they allow a very small current to control a high current circuit. It's sort of like when you start a car engine. The mechanical effort it takes to turn the ignition key is nothing compared to the effort it would take to start it with a pull rope. Essentially, the relay allows one device to effortlessly control a much larger device.

Hi Shogun, newbie here, I'm tryin to post but keep getting error page popping up. Just got a 95' 525i and fixed the overheating problem thank to this site. I realize there is a lot to learn here. My wipers don't work, a/c clutch not engaging etc; I have read a lot and looked for relay locations and sizes for a/c, but can't find anything. I'll tackle the wiper linkage asap, they jerk about 1/2 inch at startup and engine off modes. I'm guessing the motor is good and linkage is trashed. They act like they want to sut off or go through their cycle...

PS: Yes, I know, we have a software problem at the moment when posting, that always the error message comes: Database Error. Admin already has been informed. When you reply, go to "go Advanced", then it will work for the moment.
