Or have you been offline doing more important things?

Damn e34s, the older they get, the less they stop (and perhaps the less fussy we get).
There'll be need for any damn e34 forums soon.

Nice to see some familiar faces and that people are still keeping the e34's rolling.
I still currently have the e34. I got it running superbly just to have the auto box crap out on me about 2 years ago, it completely lost reverse. I still have it sitting under a car cover in the garage. I'm not sure if I'm going to fix it or sell it as this point, haven't made my mind up yet. I've had a few cars between the e34 and what I currently drive now so I'll post them up.
This is what she currently looks like complete with blown trans at 94k miles

In that time period I also bought and brought back to life an 87 535iS. I drove it for a few years in college and sold it to a guy in Minnesota who drove all the way out to NJ and drove it back without a single problem, I miss that car the most out of all of them.

All this time I was still in college. Well I graduated in 2010 and was lucky enough to land a job in Manhattan two weeks after graduating.
During this time I was dating a girl and we bought a 1987 Mercedes Benz 190e 5 speed for her to daily drive. I got it into decent running shape for her but we wound up breaking up and it became my car. With 3 BMW's and now this it was time to sell it, which I did in 2012. It was a nice little car but man, it was no BMW.

During these few years the cars pretty much took a back seat as I was commuting to Manhattan via train after I moved to Brooklyn.
The view from the roof of my apartment of the NYC skyline.

Next up was the e24 6 series, my friends father was selling it and me being a sucker for old school had to buy it. Slowly fixed it up and was dailying it in Brooklyn
and brought the paint back over the course of 2 years and it's pretty much for sale. It's an L6.

I bought this e36 from a junkyard, drove it for only a little while and decided to part it. It had a ton of mods done to it and made some $ from it.

In January of 2012 I was on the hunt after selling the e28 and was tired of having to push the e34 out of parking spots with the blown trans. I really wanted an e36 clownshoe M coupe but with the cost of my rent and other expenditures I wasn't going to be able to swing it. I ultimately wound up with a cosmos black on modena (the reason I bought the car lol) e36 M3 with 94k miles. I've done a few things to it here and there and is still my daily driver.
With the old Rials I had on it, I grewed tired of the "stretched" theme pretty quickly

And how she currently sits with AC Schnitzer wheels

And that's pretty much it car wise... I unfortunately got laid off in April of this year at my company due to a management change so that's why I put the 6 series for sale and sol off all my spare goodies in the basement. After the 6 series sells I have to figure out the e34's fate but I've been in a "minimalist" mindset recently and am leaning to selling it but who knows. Hope I haven't bored you all and feel free to post up some of your changes in the last few years...

Nice Shark that. Your 335 too?
More pics for sure!
Definitely fix the e34, its so simple to freshen up a 4HP22 A-clutch, you just go in from the rear end and replace a few surface packs... Replace the input and output shaft seals, remove and clean up the valve body and little improvements, pump in a full load of synthetic fluid and it'll be like new.
Hardest thing is getting the trans in and out unless you have a hoist.

Still around on occasion. Ginger, our '95 525i, is having some bedwetting issues (transmission fluid leak). I'm in troubleshooting mode (have been since August). Just finished replacing the manual valve seal for the A4S310R, and got the pan back on last night. Hoping to get it cleaned up underneath this week and see what happens. Hoping it was just a leaky pan...
Daily driver is an '01 325i now. Sold my 318is (E30) a few years back :(

Been great! Your car is identical to mine except mine has a bit of Michigan rust going on. Same wheels etc. Looks and drives great but I feel it is time to let her go and score something from a non salt state like the one I have (presently). Converting it to accept salt was a bad idea but it took about 10 years to see surface damage. Where I am now at these get a premium so hoping to be able to score a younger mileage sister and some cash to update the regular. Bushings, springs, maintenance etc.
What is that lower spoiler you have on the front there?

Still own the 90 535im which my wife commutes in 5 days a week. Just getting broken in with only 205,000 miles on it so far. The 95 525iT went to my daughter & then off to Bimmer heaven when she took out a deer one night. She moved on to a 2006 325ix which seems to be a nice car but with no engine dipstick to check the oil it's of no interest to me. What the hell were they thinking??

E34 530, transmission aside, if my E34 looked as sharp and clean as yours, I probably would still have it. But, alas, as I just posted in a separate thread here, I've moved on to the E46 world with a manual AWD touring.

I have had almost no trouble with the 535 for years so not much reason to hang out here. Now she has 115k miles on her and one dent that just annoys the **** out of me. Got her service 2 a couple of months ago and had a little work done on the air conditioning. Planning to move to Florida and going through separation anxiety about leaving my mechanic.

'Gators. Pfft.
Land-based lizards are bad enough. Some are only enough to give you a bite, but here in Oz if a large one does bite you (its very, very rare) they may follow you. If you are a long way from help, it's bad- the wound quickly goes septic and worse (their saliva is literally lethal) and within as little as 24 hours you may be unable to walk. At that point, even the small ones will come for a piece of you!
Have you seen the saltwater crocs down here? 5m long. They swim in between Indonesia and Australia each year when breeding.
Here's a small one in the Australian Reptile Park, near us here in Sydney:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mjJdvRX7EW0
They have been known to capsize our tinnies (aluminium boats) to check out their content... and all sorts of crazy ****. (http://www.news.com.au/national/fisherman-attacked-by-croc-while-mate-sleeps-through-it/story-e6frfkvr-1226045348973)

Great pics and great thread. It's nice to hear from the old crowd. We should do this every, 5 years, or so.
I had a kid or two, then let my sister and my brother in law drive my e34. It wasn't in great condition before but it's in rough shape now. Mostly sits around. I'll probably part it out. Michigan winters and 230k miles is not good for any car. Left my company and started up my own practice with a partner, and I am now an elected official (township parks and rec).
I bought a minivan a few months ago. I'll show myself out . . . (killer warranty though: unlimited time unlimited mileage warranty on mechanical and electrical)

I am not convinced that it needs head gaskets... what is the reasoning? No start or compression?
I picked up a 95 530 in good service condition 1590.00 thanks to tha'bay. Swapped everything it needed from the 94 530 and then sold the 94 for 1650.00. The 94 still pulled harder than the 95 even with swapping the chips, entire computers, stock rear end with the posi 3:64 etc. I think it's the emission issues with the 95 but not sure.

it starts and runs. It might be the amount of water that keeps showing up in the oil pan...or the fact that I can't seem to build any oil pressure to the top of the motor. The lifters sound like a child playing with silverware. I'm afraid to start it and let it run any longer than it has without opening it up. I haven't even pulled a VC yet. we just moved into a new house and it's still sitting out at our ranch. I need to get it moved over here so I can play with it.

Don't know honestly. I've seen m60's with HG's fail at lower mileage, luck of the draw. It only takes one idiot owner to let a radiator/water pump/hose take out a motor. I'm still working through some title issues with it :( It has a salvage title, but simply because the guy let the insurance have it and it ended up at a yard. I went to buy seats and there it sat. I knew immediately what it actually was.

Yep, I haven't pulled the pan or anything yet. It's pumping oil through the filter assembly though, so I think it's at least pumping something. Most of the oil is just milky sludge from sitting for a while. I've drained and filled about 3x now and its getting progressively less ugly. It's not a total lost cause, it starts and idles with no CEL amazingly, lol.
