"New Here/First Post" and Need Help with my 5speed Swap

Hey guys, I have a 1995 525i with a autotragic trans that's starting to slip (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/#). Being out here in Hawaii it's near impossible to find a good clean e34. However I've come across a 530i 5speed with blown heads and the owner is asking $1500 obo. If I can use the trans, pedal assembly (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/#), and driveshaft I think it'll be a pretty good deal. My concerns are the V8's sit straight up so cross member maybe different and I'm not 100% sure the trans will bolt up to my M50. I also know the flywheel (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/#) and clutch can't be used, right? Can someone guide me more clearly as to what I can, and can't use from the 530i. Thank you for all the help.

P.S. I did a search and found nothing 530i 525i interchangeable parts or trans swap related. Any other key word search suggestions?

Late e34s are all 5 speed, stick or auto. You won't be able to use the trans, but all the other parts, inc the clutch hydraulics, you can. Only the flywheel and clutch assy (and the trans and bellhousing) are different.

You could just swap the contents of the engine bay and the drivetrain. Perhaps unbolt the front, then swap the lot :) ?

Sure the hydraulics will work? The 530 has the brake master cylinder and other stuff moved differently then the 525.

I shouldn't have said that not knowing for sure. Now I think about it its crazy- the clutch setup changes with each engine. So the diifferent items include the master and slave cylinder, the pipes and possibly the reservoir. The pedal box is the same I'm sure...

Thanks guys for the info. Ive done a S52 OBD1 Getrag260 manual trans swap in my 91 4door e30 Automatic. So with that in mind I found another Getrag260 and M20 flywheel for $150 out of a e30. Seem like all I need now is the cross member, driveshaft, pedal assembly, master, slave, and lines.... When my M50 decides to kill itself I plan to install a S52 in it as well. Ill keep you guys posted. It seems that most E34 guys dont MOD there car very often since its hard as sh*t to get any real answers... LOL!

I dont know why you didnt just fix the auto box. Is it a GM box by any chance? :-)

I always wanted a 5speed e34 but finding one here on island is impossible. I'm just going to have to build one. Plus it's easier to do it now for future engine swap.
