A forgotten treasure in France

Last Saturday I was driving country side here in Japan with my buddy and we found in the garden of an empty house a Ferrari under the bushes and weed slowly rotting away.
Maybe the owner once bought it and when something had to be repaired he just did not have the money for the repair. Looked like not touched for several years, weed and bushes almost covered it, we just were seeing some red chassis part and wheels and that is why we stopped and checked. That made me curious about barn finds and found this on the net:

What? A barn-find in Japan and no pics?

... what happened? I imagine you got it on a trailer and will have juicy stories- but fear they may only be posted on a forum full of 'prancing stallions', lol.

I am not interested in Ferrari, because my wallet is not thick enough for repairing these. I am even not sure which model it was, Ferrari letters on the back, from the shape it could be a mid-engine V6/V8. My buddy made some pics with his mobile phone and
and sent them to me and a link to sales offers in Japan on these models just to see current prices, they are offered there in good shape for around 40-60K $, but I already deleted the email. For sure it was not a super rare model, there were plenty for sale in the link he gave me.

Not a 308GTB or 308GTB. This is the late 70s/80s model like in the tv show Magnum PI. Before that they had chrome bumpers and there were many models... Glad you 'avoided' as you seem to have many options in Japan.

I asked my buddy, it is a 328 GTS we found. 1 out of 7400 made.
Wiki tells us: The Ferrari 328 GTB and GTS (Type F106) was the successor to the Ferrari 308 GTB and GTS. While largely based on the 308 GTB and GTS respectively, small modifications were made to the body style and engine, including an increase in engine displacement to 3.2 L (3185 cc). 7,400 Ferrari 328s were produced by the time the model was replaced by the new 348 in 1989, bringing the total for the 308/328 generation to nearly 20,000. The 328 is considered by some Ferrari enthusiasts to be one of the most reliable Ferraris; unlike some models, most engine maintenance can be performed without lowering the engine from the vehicle.[1]

The GTB referred to the Gran Turismo Berlinetta (coupé) body while the GTS was a Gran Turismo Spider (targa top). In 1985, the 328 retailed from $58,400-$62,500 ($126,400-$135,300 in 2013 dollars) in the United States. This price included a gas-guzzler tax.
The 328 GTS model, together with the fixed roof 328 GTB, were the final developments of the normally aspirated transverse V8 engine 2-seat series.

That is worth at least 60k, and could be up to 100k as I have seen online recently. The 328 is a decent model, much better than Magnum P.I. 308.
