Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone has been supplied a Viton Valve Cover Gasket from BMW for their 530i/540i/730i/740i/840ci yet?
Apparently BMW figured with M52 and M62 onwards that Viton was preventing leaks due to the buna-N rubber seals deteriorating when customers use synthetic oil in their engines. They've been supplying Viton vcg gaskets on new engines and also as spare parts for at least M52 and M62 onwards.
I'm wondering about whether they've made an M50 or M60 ones, just not sure if I should order cheap chinese rubber ones or a set of BMW ones at triple the price. The luxury of having a set of seals that do a better job and that can be re-used for a much longer time is appealing- as I tend to avoid opening up a set of covers if it means buying new gaskets.
