Thermostat stuck closed on the engine and caused the head gasket to fail, lots of coolant in the oil!
Recently a local garage replaced the head gasket on my 525i (24v Vanos), the head was stripped and pressure tested etc. The engine oil was flushed twice.
This is the first Vanos engined head gasket that the garage have completed but they do have the special tools for cam timing.
The car is now seriously lacking power under load e.g. up-hill driving, it has less power than my 520i!
My guess is incorrect valve timing but any suggestions on possible causes before I return the car to the garage would be most welcome.
Thanks
Steve
