View Full Version : Pry? Pry what?

is there a Bently version with USEFUL descriptions? I'm trying to remove the blower fan retaining strap. Bently says simply: "pry up on retaining strap." well, forgive my idiocy, but it's not that simple. Where exactly do I pry. I don't see any good place to get any kind of leverage, let alone fit any flat head or equivalent under the metal. I'm curious to know what others have done in this situation.
Also, is it worth it to bring this motor to a repair shop, or should I just buy a new one? New ones are like $200!
Thanks in advance.

If I recall (been a while since I was in there), the strap is a nylon or metal strap with hooking mechanism somewhere around the bottom. I think it was one of the those "press towards the hook" to create a little slack and then it just came off.
hmmmm..this is about clear as mud, huh? Maybe someone has a pic or something...

I'll try again. In the meantime, does anyone have any advice for my second question? I know gale put new bearings in his one time....I think.
