Nope. I like to sleep worry free at night. I'm overinsured - high limits on everything, umbrella, homeowners.

Once my car gets down to being worth a few hundred bucks, then I'll drop it.

Yep same here, full coverage for about 12k, comprehensive, etc... I like my car and dont think I could replace it for any less.

by the bank when I purchased the car. Now car is paid off and it continues to enjoy the same coverage.

I had full coverage on my 97 525i and on my 94 525i. The 97 was totalled and I argued with the isnurance company and basically I got more than they were first willing, but still lost money on the deal.
If my 93 525i is totalled, the insurance company will only pay what the going rate is for my car with the milelage. I paid $4800 for it. I have seen them for a little more and for a little less, but the condition of all the ones I was looking at were horrible compared to mine.

For the first time, i am considering dropping down to limited liability. I'm not sure it's worth it (it's about $160/month for me as opposed to $70). Hopefully if I am in an accident it won't be my fault and I can get the other idiot to pay for my car. As it stands, this last accident wasn't my fault, but the driver is still not willing to claim fault. Insurance nightmares!

Our 94 540 is more than my 01 Z06 for insurance.

540 is $449 every 6 months and the Z06 is $399. Figure the 540 may be worth around $7500 and the Z06 about $30k. WTF!!!!

Just got the bill for our new 99 740il and its $499 for 6 months. Maybe worth $25k?

This is one of the reasons that I will not keep the 540 as a work car. I'll drive the Z06 to work as I did before we got the 740. :)
