Got a quote from the stealer today for replacing the compressor and dryer on my wife's '97 528-

$1404 plus tax

What a deal.
Anyone know of a good place to order a compressor from? Doesn't need to be new or remanufactured.

search "Rory" in the archives. He knew a place in FL that had great prices.

My indy quoted me $695 for a reman compressor, clutch and drier installed.

Here's a source for compressors, etc. http://www.hancockindustries.com/company.aspx

Unfortunately I do not have a cite for this quote and I'm too lazy to search for it in the archives. The e-mail address below was given as the source for great-priced A/C units. Seems a little sketchy, but I would look into it myself.

some time ago, someone mentioned getting a new compressor for $265 + 15 shipping....

Not only am I lazy, but I can barely stay awake after a long day. Sorry, maybe I will post more tomorrow.

I had a compressor seal replaced a few years ago by a company in California that I saw advertised in Roundel. They were called I.C.E. and they were in San Diego. They did a great job and were not expensive, although I shipped the compressor from Ohio. I just checked my latest Roundel and they are still in business (page132). Their web site is www.iceac.com and their number is (800) 845-0424.
Good luck,
Jim
