CD Changer Broke

I have a 1995 540i with a Pioneer4 head unit. The factory cd changer broke and I am looking for any information on a replacement unit. I got the disk error message and could not repair it.


Any ideas folks?

The same thing happened to my Alpine changer in my 95 525i. About a year ago, I was advised by E. Gus Mancy emancy@woh.rr.com, a BMW changer guru that the Alpine changers do not stay repaired.

I Replaced it with a Pioneer unit I purchased from him. Get with him for advice as he is very knowledgable of BMW CD changers. However, I do not know if his email is still current. I think he is located in Ohio.

There are also some suppliers (independents and BMW dealers) on the web that sell the Pioneer unit. The 95 BMWs will not generally accept earlier or later changers. At least the Alpine 5 head unit in my car will not.
