Need 7 series advice

Buddy of mine is considering a 98 740i. The guy selling it is asking like $27k, the car has 50k miles and is in excellent shape. I am 99% sure the price is too high, but I am looking for some other opinions for him. Also, are there any known problems with these? I assume the block problems were sorted out by this time but I don't know.

the car is $7K too high, independent of mileage and condition. A very nice car....believe Ed on this board has one and he would be the man to comment on what to look for. By '98 believe all the V8 blocks were good. Check in on the Roadfly E-38 board for opinions specific to that model year.
Low mileage E-38's are about as much car as you can get for the money if you need a high end large car and not too concerned about gas mileage.
