Wanted to publicly thank Winfred and the 'others' that helped with my 95 540i smoking problem. It was so bad that I was totally embarrassed to drive the car.....like mosquito control times 10!!
I replaced the Positive Crankcase Ventilation plate and did the intake and valve cover gaskets while it was apart. Cut and reconnected the alt wires as Winfred recommended for the changeout.
I pulled the old PVC diaphram apart for kicks....it had a huge slit in it. The intake had 1/4 inch of oil laying in the bottom that got sucked through the diaphram.
Project took me 4.5 hours from start to finish. The car is now running like a bear and NO SMOKE at all.....amazing!!
