Help!! Something sounds like its grinding from the dashboard area...

The sound sounds like a brake squeel but it happens when I slow down the car (740il). I was thinking it might be compressor related or something. Its comming from the lower right or center dashboard area. Any ideas as to what it might be? Thanks for the help

There is a small fan to cool the electronic box on the right side in the engine room. This fan is located in the area behind the glovebox on the passenger side. I had this noise before till I replaced the fan.
