What do you think happens to flood damaged vehicles? Easy enough to roll them over to a state that will retitle anything, hose them off and resell. When Floyd hit NC I was sent down east (er, the coast) to help another facility rebuild their network. Was able to score a ride in a copter one day, saw *lots* of vehicles floating in the Neuse River. They just don't get retrieved and sent to the junkyard. I had a friend that had her new van washed away, she was paid out for insurance and allowed to keep it.

The big joke at some of the car auctions was how many cars came from Texas after that storm hit texas in 2001 (Allison I think it was).

The "free" carfax shows 13 items for that...I'd love to see the complete one.

If you look at the trunk picture it's def a respray, there is overspray on the locking mechanism and on some of the carpet. It looks like the trunk lid carpet was removed...some of the fasteners are missing and it's sitting on their kind of odd.

One thing I question..."show car"? Yeah, riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. There is one born every minute.

"The anti-lock system is also not functioning." - Nice. His "master mechanic" friend can't figure out why the sensor is reading -50C, can't tell him what kind of shocks are on the car or why the fog lights don't work. Good thing the car was recently "vacuummed". Darron, I can't seem to bring up that link, what does it say?

that one of the regulars on the forum that the link pointed to wanted to buy this car for $2,500. He said that the car has many serious problems and will take $15,000 to bring it up to anywhere near a decent car. He made the offer to somebody that had the car in Florida for sale. He had "Victor", who is now selling the car on eBay, checking on the car for him in Florida as sort of a go-between. After a few weeks of getting the run around by Victor, he finally called the person who had possession of the car and was told it was sold, for $4,000. Somebody, unknown, came in with $4,000 cash and bought the car. Then, a few days later, the car shows up for sale on eBay with Victor as the seller.

I don't remember all of the problems that he said the car had, but overheating and head problems were included. He said that it would have been worth $2,500 to $3,000 to him, but now Victor is trying to make a quick buck on the car and it upset him, since the car is in such bad condition.

Perhaps the discussion will be reopened up later.

Dick, the one guy called the other guy out on the carpet over that. He said he had documentation to back it up, maybe he could have furthered his case if he had presented that documention. Roadflea picked up on that one rather quickly.

It makes a lot of sense to me, after reading the very sketchy and misleading auction on eBay for this car.

Take a look at that post by "Joe". Same problem as listed in the auction. BUT WAIT!

Call now and find out that he is posting from

In other words, South Florida, or Pompano. Coincidence? The rest of the deal aside, the fact that he has to post his questions under a different name seems shady to me.

I just received an email from "Victor". My brother lives in Florida and I wanted him to have a look at the car, I love a good mystery and wanted to know the truth.

You asked:

"I paid much more for the car....you must be reading the BMW message boards. I have no idea who is Basam guy is, but he did ask me to look at a car for him and it turned out that it was this car. Some other gentleman purchased the car before I could ever get up there and he did some work to it and flipped it to me. I in turn had my mechanic look at it and now I am flipping it to the public. This guy wrote me an email and I told him that I thought it was the same car and he thought that I bought it from under him.....He wrote me a long nasty letter stating this. Yet if you call the man that was Basam was communicating with then you would know that it was not sold to me. This Basam guy is nuts! I paid well over $4000 for the car and would also like to make a prifit like this last guy did.....I going to write Basam another email. This guy is bashing me for no reason."

Sorry about the spelling....not one of Victor's strengths. I would have probably bought the car had it been as it was described...
