Differential Swap Question

Can a 3.73 LSD from a 1990 323is be put on a 1992 525i 5 speed

as far as i know, only other E34 and E32 differentials will fit. you might be able to put the ring and pinion gears into your E34 differential housing, but the assembly itself wont fit.

damn, i found an awesome deal on that lsd, but im not gonna deal with it if i have to rebuild it into mine. Thanks for the info

I would stick to an E34 rear end and fron a 6 cyl car or 530 only. you may also have to change the input flanges but thats a lot better than swapping innerds out on these "tiny" ring and pinions.

i've rebuilt a transmission before so im not worried about doing the work. I really wasn't looking for a lsd, but I stumbled across one for really cheap and figured what they hell. Im not gonna worry about it if its gonna take swappin inerts out cause it isn't too important to me right now.
