Stomp test for 525i codes

Hello. I am trying to do the stomp test I have read about to see the codes for my "check engine" light which is on but am having no luck. I have had the key in the ignition turned on so that the lights come on but the engine is not running and pressed the accelerator down five times in five seconds to no avail.

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

Bob, I find that you have to be quick but steady (same timing) for all 5 stomps. It takes a bit to get it going, but remember the feeling/method when you get it to work. Don't forget that you have to wait a few seconds before you actually see the flashing sequence...you're not giving up to early before it starts blinking, are you?

I got mine to work after fixing the Throttle Position Sensor. It's easy to check if it's functioning; all you need is a multimeter to test for continuity.
