.....measurements please? Best I can measure without an internal mic is E34 72.6mm> E39 74.1 mm.I have to give the tyre guy the measurement over the phone. Also has anyone ever tried to run the E39 wheel without the rings?Do the wheels pull up to centre with just the taper on the lugs or is there still enough play to create an out of balance situation?cheers.

Your measurements are 74mm to 72.56mm. Julius is right...shakey car without them.

Crusty, I'll see about mic'ing my wheels. It appears I have a set of rare E34 hubcentric BBS RS (#5's) that were OEM from the factory. There is no ring in them, just the machined radius of the wheel's inner part (they're the 3-piece wheels, forged rim halves titanium rivetted to the cast center.) There is absolutely no wheel vibration when driven up to 265km/h on track conditions...just centering a wheel with the bolts would almost certainly give you a vibration at higher speeds...definitely not to be done with E39 wheels on an E34.
Cheers,
Duey
