I need to replace the output shaft seals and output shaft boot on my automatic. There are a few questions I would like to ask before diving into the repair.
1) Can I place the car in "D" to prevent the diff from turning?
2) Is there an inexpensive source for a new boot?
3) Can the rear diff cover be removed with the diff in place? May be necessary as the PO buggered the fill plug.
Cheers,
Roland

put it in park not drive to lock it up

boot for what? on the tranny?

never tried, there may be enough there to get it out with a hammer and punch or chisel

---> The parking pawls occasionally allow slippage of the car on inclines. I'm worried it won't hold during this process. Anything I can do?

---> The boot on the output shaft. It's torn and I would like to replace it.
