So I'm on my way back from lunch, stopped at a light waiting for the left turn arrow. I'm first at the line, the arrow turns green, I start to go... I move forward about 2 feet... and I stall.... I've been driving the e34 for about 8 weeks now, and havn't stalled in a long time, but for some reason today I stalled.

I throw my hands up in the air, so the guy behind me will know something is wrong, turn the key back so I can turn it forward to start the car... and *WHAM* I get rear-ended...

really all thats busted is item 7 from this page..

but I'm wondering... I replace item 7.... am I also going to need to replace items 3+4 (those side pieces)... I'm sure that item 7 has been sunfaded over the last 10 years.. and a new item 7 might stand out as being really new black.

Next question, other then going to the stealer, where might be a good place to get a new piece of trim??

I'll post pix tonight when I get home from work...

My gut feel is that if you replace only the center section it will definately stand our in comparison with the side pieces. No matter how well a car is maintained, almost ten years of life will show and the new piece will stand out. Good luck.

any chances a salvage yard might have any e34s with intact rear bumpers sitting in them??

Bret in RTP might have this part available. I'd get all 3 sections so they'd match.

what is rtp?

Research Triangle Park in North Carolina. Bret is actually in Clayton North Carolina. I bought a rear bumper from him this past weekend for my 525. He is great to work with and has a mountain of BMW parts (mainly for e30's). He does have two 525's that are in decent shape. His prices are reasonable as well.
