ot, how does one perform a screenshot on a peecee

my mac was easy, i haven't figured out how to do one on the monster yet, win2k pro

Hit print screen on the keyboard, go to any graphics program such as Paint (start, programs, accesories, paint) right click and paste, save it to your hard drive. (took me YEARS to figure that one out)

some programs won't allow that, i find that if i hit shift and Printscreen at the same time, it always works (unless you have a weird vid card like in a laptop).

Print screen will capture the whole screen, ALT+PRINTSCREEN will capture just the active window. Paste into paint/word/etc.

oh, and while were being ot and all up in here...

saw that you were installing win2k....excellent choice. in the past couple of weeks, it seems that a lot of ppl that i help fix their computer (with w2k systems) are having problems including not being able to "lasso" icons with the mouse, or copy and paste failures. i'm not sure why the hell it is happening, but if it happens to you, download java from sun, here

i only mentioned it because it finally happened to me a couple of days ago.
the problem resembles the old OLE problems from windows 95, only that doesn't apply in this case.
