Changing 89 bmw e34 stock radio

just purchased an 89 e34, tried to change original radio for after market, bought recommended harness, connected all the wires, system came on but no sound came from my speakers, can anyone tell what is wrong and how i can fix it.

Does the stock amplifier have a fuse in it? I think mine does (not sure and it is too late to check). Did you check it to make sure the fuse didn't blow when the radio was changed? I was frustrated for hours when I put speakers and an amp in my jeep only to find the fuse in the amp was blown.
