I've noticed that the lock and its motor on the driver side of my car has become worn and, you know ... sort of "limp". Wheras on the passenger side it feels brand new and firm and makes a more satisfying sound. I guess 15 years of locking/unlocking has worn it a bit.
So I was thinking of taking the less used lock and motor from the passenger side and replacing it with the driver side's and vice versa. So instead if ripping the doors apart and finding out for myself, I thought I'd ask my fellow old-e34-owners: Can I safely switch them over or is there a difference in the mechanical parts on the left and right side?
