i replaced my console wood today because the housings below it that hold the sliding tank track looken thingie crumbled. everything in the yard looked like it went a few rounds with a belt sander, so i did a little experament with a buffer and automotive compound, it's out of a 200+k mile rough 94 525, nothing special just a full sized b&d buffer with a wool buff and some fine compound, whatcha think

Looks like you brought it back to life. When those pieces are out of their places, you can see about umteen coats of clear that covers the wood, almost seems 1/4" thick....but it's not. A rare talent indeed, to have the right touch, and not wear through to the finish.

None of my BMW's have "wood"......if they did, I'd burn it for horsepower...=)

Plastic polish would do a better job... easier too.

i have all of the crap at the yard on a fresh 535im parts car to convert, and a few years ago id'a done it at the drop of a hat, but this auto works good and doesn't bother me plus only has around 70k on the factory rebuild

it took me all of 5 minutes including experamental work on a warped console to see how it would work and wither it would burn it

Plastic polish would do a better job... easier too.
