Penrite (Australia) have released a 5W-60 fully synthetic oil.
Synthetic 5 (http://www.penrite.com.au/nextpage.php?navlink=db/productview.php&id=1)

Not sure if it's available in the U.S. but it may be worth checking out.

Here's a PDF spec sheet (http://www.penrite.com.au/pispdf/SYN5.pdf)

Cheers pundit.

Those guys from down under love their thick oil, they even sell 25w-70 oils. There is really no need to use a 60 weight oil in a BMW. Any good synthetic that is ACEA A3 approved (generally a heavy 30 weight or heavier) will provide plenty of protection for all driving conditions. If you are a track junkie, or drive regularly in 100f+ temps, then it may be worth going up to a 50weight like Mobil 1 15w-50. All that the 5w-60 would do over Mobil 0w-40 is cause a drop in gas mileage.
