Hi Guys. I have three or four problems with my E34 1988 530i SE Auto (RDH here in England), so I'll post them separately. This one is that nearly every time I start the car, the alarm gong (I think that's what it's called) starts and doesn't stop unless I drive for a few miles, stop, turn the ignition off, then re-start the engine. Other symptoms while the gong is sounding are : the seatbelt light glows faintly ; all the instrument needles give false readings and jump around ; the odometer and trip recorder don't register whatever miles I'm travelling. Braking stops the gong, but only while I'm actually depressing the brake pedal (so driving downhill and braking gives a few moments of glorious relief from the dreadful noise !). Any ideas ?
