Is it possible to use the turbocharger from the M51/E34 in the M50/E34.. I know the M51 is the diesel engine but can you modify it to be used in the M50 petrol engine since turbos work off exhaust anyway.. I mean shouldnt it bolt on fine?

Nope- the m51 used a 2 bolt-per-port manifold similar to the m21 and m20 engines, with round ports, while the m50 used a 4 bolt-per-port manifold, with oval ports.

What about the brackets for the turbo and intercooler(s)? will all that fit, while having a custom manifold made?

I doubt it- you'd probably need to make everything from scratch. I think AA sells individual components for their e36 m50 kits, but the prices will be high, if they fit at all.
