i am looking for a set of 4 20mm spacers to mount 95' m3 wheels on my 540i.

But unless you're getting a killer deal on the M3 wheels, it would probably be cheaper to get wheels with the correct offset rather than M3 wheels with spacers. 20mm spacers, along with the required longer lug bolts cost $250 at Turner Motorsport (http://www.turnermotorsport.com/html/show_category.asp?txtsearchParamCat=suspwheels#H&RWheelSpacers). M3s also use shorter tires than E34s, so your speedometer/odometer will read higher than actual.

Even if you spring for new tires & new spacers, you're still under the price of a set of used 17" wheels & tires.

Have fun worrying about your wheels falling off... Don't forget you'll need 20mm longer lug bolts, too.

You should really buy wheels that are designed for your car. 20mm is a damn huge spacer. I'd never drive a spacer that big on the road.

i think theres about a 6 week backorder on 20mm h&r spacers from the factory, i have a buddy that's been looking for a set hard (i need him to get em so i can have his e30 m3 rims ;) )

Spacers, if done right, are fine.No.
If by 'done right' you mean 'hubcentric' - then god yes, 'done right' is far far far better than 'done wrong'. If you have the balls to run 20mm NON-hubcentric spacers, you also have the balls to nominate yourself for a Darwin award.

If you're going to run the 'right' hubcentric spacers, as you should, you'd better get some damn high quality wheel bolts, and you'd better be damn religious about checking torque with a good torque wrench on a regular basis.

Really, you should buy wheels that fit your car.

The weight is not supported very much at all by the lug bolts. Checking wheel torque goes without saying- having lug bolts come loose is bad news with or without spacers.



Really, you should buy wheels that fit your car.

That's best, but spacers are not a problem (again, if done right). Properly bolted down, the hub-spacer-wheel is essentially one piece and is not much different than the hub-wheel unit.

Why don't you sell the M3 wheels and use that money to get wheels that don't need spacers and such. I had some M3 contours from my M3/4that I had just lying around and asked the same question you are because I wanted to put them on my beloved 530iT. Decided to sell and use that money to get some correct wheels
