I wasnt 20 minutes from home at a McDonalds drive thru when the coolant temp got hot. As it turns out the level was low and I must have had an air pocket. Funny thing is I commute in the car 70 miles each way in Los Angeles traffic but the first time I go on a long road trip I have a problem.
I hit some rain which sucked cause I had I slow down. Once I got past the storms it was clear and my buddy took over the driving (I had been driving for 14 hours). I never realized how bad the low beams on the e34 really are until driving in the colorado mountains at night.
The GPS and software I borrowed was great for the trip. It plotted our entire route and was very useful. You can get both the software and GPS for $130. http://www.delorme.com/earthmate/configlaptop_info.asp
The GPS we used was a Tripmate and the software was Street Atlas 2003.
Hopefully the trip home monday is clear and dry
