i believe the previous owner put new shocks (struts?) on the rear of the car, but any bumps run over seem to be somewhat jarring. in fact, the doors have started to creak quite annoyingly because the car is so 'rigid'.

is this common among e34s? if not, any suggested fixes?

might be race shocks or just plain blown shocks could result in problems like these. Try to check if they are infact newer by taking the tire off and looking at them, the mounting bolts and stuff if they are infact newer. Never know what you have til you check.

self leveling? if so they can lock solid when the accumulators fail, generally as conventional shocks wear/age they get looser

is the car lowered? if so and they didnt cut the bump stops that will bottom out, generally with bilstein sports you dont need any bump stops cause their built in.

Also what Winfred said would take presidence in this thread.

i know when placing the car in reverse, the back end seems to drop down.

the car is not lowered.

ive had a p/s leak that is currently being fixed. i cant remember if self-leveling is affected by the power steering fluid.

when pushing down the trunk, the car does not seem 'stiff'. only when driving, it almost is jarring.
