your suspension fast. It will also ride like you have NO tires.
Not true! It is a myth that bigger wheels = harsh ride. It is easier to damage bigger wheels, but they do ride about the same as the 15 stockers. And with the right tire, it can still be riding smooth and quiet. Btw, 400 for a set of 18s is very good deal.

A 225/50-15 tire is going to ride softer than a 235/35-18. There is a lot more sidewall to flex, it's not a myth.

hopefully i will if i can find some money, btw on the way home i saw a 1997 528i with 198k on it, also had a 5spd and a few minimal blemishes (foglight, small spider web in paint on rear bumper) and it was 6500, sounds like a deal to me, how long do the 528i engines last? would it be worth it even just to drop a new block in?

Here are 2 pics of my "overgrown rollerskate"

And one more...

Also, be aware that when I put on my new rims and tires it enhanced the famous shimmy. I ended up replacing the entire suspension (excepting the springs and struts as they had already been done) and that fixed it up fine.
And yes I believe that is a good deal.

of a green E34 with either 19 or 20" wheels on it and it looked ridiculous (kind of like an overgrown rollerskate). That could be the pic your thinkin about.

Um, no..... I did have a rental Buick LeSabre in a herd of Buff once in SoDak. There were two calves on one side and one very pissed looking mommy on the other. I hadn't realized how BIG they are until then.
But something tells me you mean a different "Buffalo Herd?"
Hmmmm....
You get some snows to replace the S-03's for winter yet? How'd they ride for the summer?

Mark D'Sylva has 245/40-18's on his M3...he used to have pics up of his weekend as the Mosport track...don't think the link is working now.
Cheers,

No, I haven't done anything yet. I probably will simply put my old Ronal 16" inch wheels with almost new Bridgestone Turanza all seasons back on the car for the winter. However, I really hate to lose the wonderful look of the Throwing Star wheels - they are fantastic. I love the way the S-03's handle, especially on rain soaked roads. I have even gone out of my way to drive hard on wet roads, just because I can. :-) For awhile I considered just leaving the Throwing Stars and S-03's on the car all winter and driving my VW GTI those few days when there is snow and ice. However, one of my nieces is married to a Bridgestone tire rep and he told me that the S-03's will harden up and seem like I was driving on plastic when the temperatures drop down into the single digits, like they do here in Kansas a lot in the winter. So that plan is probably not going to work.
I get a lot of admiring looks from the younger crowd for the wheels - unfortunately, most of them are males. :-)
Thanks again for the great deal on these wheels/tires.

I'm just glad they worked well for someone. They were so perfect, and my 535 had only felt worse with them on. That, in some ways, was the final nail in the coffin for that car and my patience.
It was 18F when I left my house this morning. That made the RE040's on the 330 feel a bit like hockey pucks. Friday we're looking at 35F and rain/sleet, so I'll have to take the pickup. But I'm trying to stretch the summers as long as possible........ They feel too good!
