modulating lights

Hello, I have a 92 525i that has developed a strange issue with the lights ( both the headlights and the dash lights). The intensity of the lights vary brightness in a modulating fashion. It is quite noticeable as I drive at night and certianly when I pull into the garage. Dash lights appear to do the same. Any thoughts? Voltage regulator or altenator? I appreciate your help and advice. Steve

I would guess your voltage regulator is going bad if the battery is absolutly good. If the battery is failing then your not going to get a constant voltage reading so the alternator is trying to charge then the regulator is saying it charged.... test battery first.

Had the same thing with our old 92 525i. The voltage regulator. Our alternator was made by Valeo (sp?). Easy fix. I think it is acommon problem.
