I just used an allen wrench.
actually, I needed a radio code for my car once, went to the dealer, they asked for a serial # off the radio, and just let me use their wrench... talk to any [cool] service adisor and the'll let you use it.
Otherwise, I'm pretty sure that Bav Auto carries them.

I did mine last night with an allen wrench.... I had to try several different ones... and I put some pressure on the wrench when turning (I think that helped it grip)

You can get it cheaper off eBay.

Whatever the size is it seems to be in between any of the sizes included in any metric or standard allen wrench set. I just used the closest one that would fit and put a little downward pressure on it. If you're patient that will work, but be careful of stripping.

you should be able to get it out with an allen wrench- the trick seems to be to put some diagonal force on the allen wrench to help keep it from slipping. What I mean is: put the wrench in the hole, then put some sideways pressure on the end of the wrench that you are holding, then turn the wrench. It should not be that tight, so once you get it loose, it should be easy to turn from there.
I've used this method to remove about 20-30 BMW radios, never had one I could not get out...
