OK so this is kind of humilating.
Due to the bizzare "+/- quarter of a tank" accuracy problem with the fuel gauge on my 1993 M60 engined 530i, I found myself with a dry gas tank this
morning.
So now it seems my engine, (after having gulped a load of nasty sediment at the bottom of my tank no doubt), is now misfiring. This is both whilst idling and across the rev range.
I'm thinking perhaps the fuel filter is clogged, but then surely the restricted fuel flow would not case problems at idle? Failing this could it be that one or more of the injectors has become clogged up, and some injector cleaning stuff in my tank would sort it out?
These are the two things that I'm hoping it is. Does anyone know if anything more more serious could have happend to my engine?
