i dunno whether or not the engine is an m50 version or the m20... from what i have read... it was in 1990 when the engine was changed frm the m20 to the m50. this is the reason why im bogged... do u guys know sites that show bmw engines? this way i may be able to identify the engine type
tnx

easy way to tell the difference between M20 and M50 is by looking at the valve cover (the top of the engine- where the oil fill cap is). The M20 has a long Aluminum valve cover- the M50 has a wide black plastic cover over the actual valve cover, almost all you see in the engine bay is black plastic because the intake manifold is black plastic too!
