If you go to the online parts database...you can look it up. The wood trim is located under VEHICLE TRIM (main group) & INNER COVERS (subgroup): http://www.realoem.com/bmw
Nussbaum, loosely translated, means "nut wood" or probably "walnut". The earlier e34 had a wood called Bubinga and could be had in either matt or high gloss finish. There is also another optional wood...Bird's Eye Maple...which I've never seen here in the States (on an e34)...probably a few are running around Europe , though. :p (Europe had the opportunity to build their cars and add the features they wanted ala carte) Because wood is a natural product...not every e34 will have the same exact pattern...and as we all know...the trim is real wood (thin veneer) under a thick layer of polyurethane (or other plastic). :D

i've seen some 540s with walnut with about a 1/8" strip of some light straight grain wood running length wise through it, my favorite is the canaidian m540 with the carbon fibre that has the motorsport colors woven into it, id give damn near anything in trade from the salvage yard for a complete set

I'll have to pull the part back out of the car to check the part number. That picture was taken a month or so ago when I was trying to prevent from having to pay $200 to replace it. Since I dropped it last night, looks like I'll be dropping the $200 as well.

If you click the link below to the BMW Online Vendor List...you can get the contact info for several used part vendors and see if you can find a used center console piece...here's a few I recommend you contact:
Some of the used parts vendors are:
1. Auto Parts Search
2. Bavarian Auto Recycling
3. Car Parts.Com
4. Euro Depot
5. Vines
6. Zionsville
7. Lone Star Bavarian*
* - Lone Star Bavarian is a repair shop and board poster...but he sometimes has parts cars.

I've tried all kinds of combinations to find the model that will give up the part numbers for the BMW (factory) carbon fiber...but to no avail. I can get the diagram to come up if I input info for a 1995 540i (USA spec)...but no part numbers come up in the index...go figure. :(
Click this link to see the BMW diagram for carbon fiber trim: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=HE63&mospid=47410&prod=19951100&btnr=91_0125&hg=91&fg=40

You'd be looking at a 4 digit price tag and I bet the first number aint a 1. Back when john@bekkers used to post on this board, he had custom CF trim. His car and custom CF on cardomain.....
Johns Custom CF (http://www.sounddomain.com/memberpage/214271/12)
I asked him what he spent on his and he told me something like $1500?

...part of the previous conversation above. ;) If you go to the BMW ETK or online parts database the official name of the interior wood trim for e34 built after 9/92 is Nussbaum or Bubinga. (I posted a pic of what Bubinga looks like)
The German interpretation of Nussbaum is loosely translated as nut wood...from there...I think we can conclude why the "street name" for this type of trim is called "burled walnut" :D

carjack northern m540s till you find one with the cf and swap it and leave it?! buy one of those aftermarket kits that's not a sticker that you apply to the stock trim (the wood ones look like ****), find out where john wid da black 540 got his and pony up $1-2k or scavage kanuck salvage yards for a set, somebodys gonna wreck one sooner or later
