Rear wiper not wiping

The rear wiper on my 1995 525 Touring was working fine until I opened the glass hatch in back. After that I can hear the motor in back working but the wiper won't move. I looked at the mechanism and realize that a pin from the back of the wiper has to mesh with a slot in the drive mechanism. I can see from streaks in the lubricant that the circular drive cog is moving with the pin from the wiper rubbing against it. The window is closed tightly. Any ideas?

If the motor is working and the circular drive cog is rotating then you'll probably need to tighten the rear window to get the pin to stay in the hole. Tighten the rear window by adjusting the catch bolt. There should be a nut on the catch bolt that you can adjust up the thread towards the catch to get a tighter window closure
