coolant pump leak

dealing with a 93 525i. i have a coolant leak coming from around the coolant pump. it also only leaks when the engine is running. i'm wondering if there is a gasket or o-ring that can be replaced or if it's posible for the coolant to leak out the shaft of the pump.

any ideas?

Time for a new water pump. Ususally if the seal goes its a VERY good indication that its time for new. While your in there get a new thermostat. Check your belts and hoses cause it sounds like the car may not have been properly maintained and everything could be ready to go. Waterpumps, thermos, hoses, belts are all maintenance items.
