E39 steering wheels

Hi, Can anyone tell me if steering wheels are interchangeable between 1999 E39 and 2001 E39? I have an M sport (3 spoke) in 1999 model and a standard 4 spoke in the 2001 model. Both have same basic controls (no phone). I'd like to swap the two steering wheels between the two cars. Appreciate your help.

Have you checked into www.bmwtips.com ? There is some information about the E39 M sport steering wheel on the tips and tricks section of that site.

all you need to do is look up the available steering wheels for the 99 model year and the 2001 model year and see if the part numbers are the same.

Found what I wanted. It looks like the transplant won't work due to differences in air bags (single v dual). Thanks anyway.
